NIST’s mission is to promote U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness by advancing measurement science, standards, and technology in ways that enhance economic security and improve our quality of life. We spend the majority of our time with the small businesses within the Defense Industrial Base (DIB), which makes-up the backbone of the Department of Defense (DoD) supply chain, and where our Nation's best innovation for our defense system originates. We use a unique approach of strategic collaboration, education, and a holistic approach to helping contractors protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive data, such as Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and Covered Defense Information (CDI).
