There’s a lot that goes in to the identity of a business. The look. The culture. The values. The name (stay tuned for more on that). The approach to the market place. The “go-to-market” strategy.
As a company operating within the information and cyber security space, we are often asked, “Who is Beryllium InfoSec Collaborative, and what makes you unique?” The answer? Well, we hope you like analogies…
Beryllium InfoSec Collaborative is to security, what a health center is to healthcare.
We’ve all been there. You have an injury of some sort and you can’t figure out what’s wrong. Sure, you can go to “WebMD” to try and self medicate, but by doing so, you choose to inherit the risk that something serious may be wrong. You start to wonder if the source of the pain is from the actual injury, or is the root of the problem somewhere else? What’s the best way to find out? Seek a professional’s opinion.
When you head to the local health center, you see a general practitioner. That’s Beryllium in this scenario. You discuss your symptoms, issues, what you’ve done to self-medicate and prevent further injury. The practitioner begins to understand what needs to be done, so he/she can provide you some guidance on the healing process.
But, the practitioner doesn’t do the healing.
Let’s say you’ve been diagnosed with a lower back injury. Do you head straight to the eye doctor at the health center and ask that they treat you? No. You see the back doctor. If you have had a back injury, you know that it is not just the back that can be affected. Remember the song from kindergarten? “The leg bone is connected to the…hip bone, and the hip bone is connected to the…back bone…” A health center is designed to be the “go-to” for treatment. Odds are, the back doctor knows the hip doctor, the hip doctor knows the knee doctor…and so on.
That’s what Beryllium is to the information and cyber security world.
We don’t pretend (or want) to do it all. There are plenty of security companies who do great things in our industry. Security companies who focus on what they are good at, like fixing specific problems within the security space, becoming true experts in their niche portion of the marketplace. Why would a knee doctor try and become an eye doctor? To try and make a quick buck? No, that’s not a smart business model. Sadly, it is happening in the security world.
By strategically collaborating with other security companies who solve specific problems in the industry, Beryllium (the general practitioner) can make the right recommendations, specific to your organization, regardless of what “injury” you might have. And when you’re done with your treatments (remediation), you can schedule a wellness check for validation and further guidance.
So there you have it, Beryllium InfoSec Collaborative is your information and cyber security health center.
General rule of thumb: Don’t use a “SecurityMD” solution for your security program…contact us instead!
